Art has always been a major factor in my life.
As the daughter of an artist, I learned a great deal about commercial and fine art long before learning in the classroom. From an early age, I got to experience it all—the hands-on design, creation and production of job to the business and management side. In my father’s midtown Manhattan studio, commercial art for the corporate clients was the focus. But at home, art was more practical and fine art focused.
I went off to college to grow on my own and received my degree from the University of New Haven in Graphic Design. I decided to return home and continue my studies at Parson’s School of Design in NYC.
Through life’s twists and turns I have worked in various positions including advertising sales, newspaper and various in-house art departments, all the while, learning new skills and problem-solving wherever needed.
After hours, I have volunteered as the Web Manager of the now defunct website for Spoon’s Chapel Christian Church. As someone who’s career emphasis has been in print based projects, the web had been an exciting challenge for me. I created images for their main and other pages, and updated content on most of the website’s pages. Over the years, they had me involved in various projects including branding, various print projects large and small, as well as theatrical.
At home, I am still a practical fine artist. I create art as I need it, in my ever-expanding choices of media (currently sculptures on polymer clay, painting on glass, and stained glass mosaics, and now sculpting with craft foam).
